Natural quality meets unique processing

The high quality of the Alperitif® products results from the incredible ingredients, their special processing and the handmade and individual packaging of the finished distillates. In order to reflect our personal bond with nature in our products, it is important to us to carry out as many steps as possible in the production chain ourselves.

This begins with the selection and organic cultivation of the main raw materials under the caring supervision of our mountain farmers. Regular contact and on-site visits ensure that all raw materials meet our high-quality standards. Coordinating harvest times to capture the maximum intensity of flavors and creative exchanges are also part of the process.

To obtain the amazing aroma of the herbs after their harvest, we use very particular processing techniques. These allow for the preservation of the highly volatile essential oils and the complex constituents of the roots to a high degree. Thus, the ingredients can develop their full effect in the beverages.

The syrups and liqueurs then undergo a clarification, which is done by cold treatment and weeks of storage in stainless steel tanks. Through this, the turbid substances can settle at the bottom. All these steps, which eventually lead to a first-class product, are paired with a considerable amount of work and time. Because these are important values to us, they must also be reflected in the price of our niche products.

All in all, the natural and handpicked alpine herbs combined with the personal and detail-oriented processing make each of our products unique.

Our designs

Alperitif - Gin Likör Etikettendesign

Trying to reflect the beauty of the Tyrolean Alps we chose to make the characteristic silhouette of the mountains an essential part of the bottle design of the Alperitif®. Its ruby red color is reminiscent of the glowing sunsets and breathtaking evening light in the Alps.

In addition to our existing label, we have also created a more modern and new alpine variant. In this version, we make room for the story behind Alperitif and let our original inspiration speak for itself. The label shows our close bond with nature and symbolizes the clarity and purity of the spring water with its white background. Also pictured are meadows representing the variety of herbs which the Alperitif® is made of. To sum it up, the alpine label signifies the complexity of the product and gives insight into the diversity of the alpine world.

Decide for yourself which label design suits you best. Choose between the "Classic" version (red with golden details) or the "Alpine" version (white with silver details). The content in both cases consists of our multiple award-winning Alperitif® - Gin Liqueur.

Our organic raw materials

Angelica root, angelica
Angelica archangelica

The heavenly flavor carrier of the Alperitif

  • Growing region: regions of Northern and Eastern Europe, Himalaya
  • Origin of our commodities: Alperitif Heilkräuterschule
  • Medicinal effect: Soothing for the stomach and digestive tract, beneficial for the heart and skin
  • Maturity: 1-2 years

Angelica is a plant with a long standing tradition and has turned out to be one of the most valuable ingredients of Alperitif®.  The much-traveled herb found its way into the monastery gardens of Central Europe in the middle of the 14th century. Since then, it has been commonly used in the medical field because of its wealth of essential oils. The effects of angelica range from the stomach and digestive tract to the skin and heart. Moreover, it has also been used as a therapeutic agent for diseases such as the plague, dysentery and cholera.

In addition to its popular healing effects, angelica also portrays an excellent bitter component in spirits. Through its essential oils, it creates a symbiosis between the individual ingredients and essences of liqueurs, gin or wormwood. Due to its variety of flavor components, it is initially perceived as spicy, further sweetish and somewhat bitter in the end. This taste diversity contributes to the fact that it is not the most intense component and thus in no way overpowers the other flavor carriers. Angelica rather acts as a unifying element that creates a balanced and wholehearted flavor.

Masterwort
Radix Imperatoria

A forgotten miracle herb reinterpreted

  • Origin, growing region: In the mountain ranges of Central and Northern Europe, prefers limestone and primary rock soils at altitudes between 1,400 and 2,700 meters
  • Origin of our commodities: Alperitif Heilkräuterschule
  • Medicinal effects: Has a range of effects on the respiratory and digestive tract
  • Maturity: 3 years

If you take a close look at the ingredients of Alperitif®, you will often come across one specific name: Masterwort. It is not only an important flavor carrier but also an all-embracing remedy.

The original name of the masterwort - Radix imperatoria - translated "the ruling, territorial", is rarely found in today's language. Early on, it was believed to have healing and beneficial effects on the body. Today these beliefs are proven to be true as various studies have shown that the essential oils contained in the roots (about 95% terpenes) have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, appetizing, digestive and tonic properties.

As a predominantly wild-growing plant, masterwort feels especially at home in Central and Northern Europe at altitudes between 1,400 and 2,700 meters. It is mainly found along alpine rivulets, shady rocky outcrops and nutrient-rich alpine soils. Due to its very specific and limited agriculture area, both the cultivation and the harvesting process require great effort. The steep hillsides usually do not allow for mechanical support. This leaves mountain farmers with the only option of laborious care and harvesting by hand.

Today, its beneficial properties and demanding cultivation process make masterwort one of the most valuable plants found in compositions like spirits, tinctures and medicine.

Through its almost magical diversity, masterwort is the flavor carrier, benefactor and emblem of our Alperitif®.

Juniper
Juniperus communis, Juniper

You have surely heard of it – but do you know what it tastes like?

  • Origin, growing region: Native in moderate climate zones, prefers dry and sunny locations
  • Medicinal effects: Mostly used as a kidney remedy and urinary stimulant
  • Maturity: 3 years
The inconspicuous "berries" of juniper bushes are a fundamental part of modern drinking culture. Although juniper is a popular ingredient in a multitude of spirits, it is typically found in gin.

Before juniper berries fully develop their characteristic scent and flavor, three years of ripening are required. The initially green and unripe fruit gradually develops into a black-brownish-bluish berry, which usually does not reveal its full sweetness and aroma density until the third year. Fermented or as an extract, juniper contributes to the flavor palette of our gin, but also various other distillates, with its sweet-spicy and slightly resinous-bitter taste. However, juniper not only amazes with its unique flavor. Since the Middle Ages, it also serves as a remedy of great popularity. In the past it was generally used for kidney problems while it is particularly popular in homeopathy today.
